Are our dreams of starting a family universal?

Do you want to have children? Probably everyone asked this question of themselves at least once, but the answers to it can be very different. Analyses on GGP data done by Zuzanna Brzozowska and Eva Beaujouan show how people in different European countries plan their family future and how these plans are realized.

The authors' analyses indicate that in Poland, among those who declared at the time of the survey that they wanted to have (another) child, only 40% planned a pregnancy within the next three years, and nearly 50% used contraceptives to avoid pregnancy.
